Foreign worker in fatal work injury on Scottish dam

A major Highland construction project was brought to a halt by a serious work accident earlier this week. Following a man suffering fatal personal injury, the Glendoe hydroelectric project was temporarily stopped in respect for the man's death.

The accident victim was revealed to have been a foreign worker, and police will not reveal his name until his family has been contacted in Eastern Europe.

HSE investigations have been reported as continuing, but it is too soon to know whether the man's family will be launching a compensation claim over the workplace accident.

The dam is the largest civil engineering project in Scotland, and was recently 'plugged' by Alex Salmond, First Minister. It is responsible for the employment of several hundred workers, some of whom are currently being interviewed by HSE officers regarding the fatal work accident.
