Personal injury solicitors could help family claim

The family of a young girl who fell on a broken bottle in a park may consider contacting personal injury solicitors to make a no win no fee claim for her severe hand injuries.

The five-year-old was playing in Grove Park in Puxton, Somerset, with her father and grandparents when she fell onto a broken bottle that had been left by a wall.

Her grandmother, aged 70, said that the youngster was playing in a wooden shelter making daisy chains before sustaining the serious personal injuries.

She added, "The next thing we knew she had fallen off the wall and was screaming in pain. We rushed over to her with her dad and realised she was covered in blood. It sounds awful but it was literally gushing out, and it was at that point that we realised just how bad it was."

The girl was taken to hospital but medical staff were unable to treat her for the severe hand injury and she was taken by ambulance to a different hospital. The injured girl was then referred to another hospital where surgeons operated on her damaged hand in a bid to repair the tendons in her wrist.

Specialists at the hospital have said that the girl may permanently loose the feeling in two of her fingers, perhaps even the entire hand.

The family believes that the accident could have been prevented if the park had been checked for litter and in the future they may consider contacting personal injury solicitors to make a compensation claim.

A spokesperson for the local council commented on the accident and said, "We do have staff in the park and it is checked and cleaned on a daily basis. There are plenty of waste bins so there is no excuse for people not disposing their rubbish safely."
