A470 cycle accident compensation case

A 20-year-old man could be entitled to cycle accident compensation after falling from his bicycle on the A470 in Gwynedd, Wales.

The victim suffered a serious head injury as a result of the incident, and was treated by a passing doctor before paramedics arrived and took the casualty to the University of Wales Hospital, in Cardiff.

Police are asking any witnesses of the crash to come forward with information, although they believe that there is "nothing to suggest" that the casualty was in a collision with another vehicle.

Officers are likely to interview the man when he has recovered from his injuries.

If investigations show that there was another vehicle involved and that the driver is liable for the rider's injuries, then the cyclist or his family might choose to make a compensation claim for his pain, suffering and loss of earnings.

It is also a possibility that the rider fell due to a poorly maintained road surface. If this is the case, the agency responsible for that stretch of road might have a claim made against it.

However, if the cyclist fell through his own actions and no one is to blame for his injuries, then it is unlikely that he will be able to make a cycle accident compensation claim.
