Man wins £300k compensation for life-threatening car accident
A father from Blackburn has won car accident compensation worth £300,000 at the High Court.
The damages were paid in respect of a 2007 road traffic accident which caused him life-threatening injuries and permanent brain damage, the Lancashire Telegraph reports.
The man was a few streets away from the house he shared with his wife and two young children when he was struck down by a silver Volkswagen Golf.
He sustained multiple skull fractures in the road accident, and now suffers permanent cognitive and psychological problems.
In court, his family reached a settlement with insurers before the man's personal injury lawyers were called on to make their case.
It is thought the six-figure car accident injury claim will fund the search for more suitable accommodation close to where the victim now lives with his father in London.
A High Court judge who approved the car accident compensation said it should be spent in the best interests of the claimant. "I hope the money can be put to good use," she said.
