Woman claims for road accident compensation
A woman claiming for road accident compensation has been awarded a settlement of £750,000.
Lynda Ross, 37, of Edinburgh sustained serious personal injuries in 2004 when her vehicle was hit by an oncoming Peugeot on the A9 near Pitlochry in Perthshire.
Ms Ross suffered serious leg injuries in the car crash and will have to undergo surgery to her right leg every six months for the next six years.
She appeared at the Court of Session in Edinburgh walking on crutches and said she doesn't complain of having more surgery as it may enable her to walk again.
Ms Ross said, "My long-term goal is to get rid of the crutches. At the moment they can't diagnose whether I will be able to do that and walk properly.
"This is a massive improvement from where I started. Initially, I couldn't get out of a wheelchair."
Ms Ross contacted personal injury solicitors following the crash and made a claim for road accident compensation against the driver of the Peugeot, Robert Sangster, of West Park, Wick.
On the day a civil jury was brought in to assess the amount of damages Ms Ross should be awarded for her accident claim, the case was resolved with an agreed settlement of £750,000.
