Coroner records suicide verdict in case of distressed solicitor

A Worcestershire county coroner's court has recorded a verdict of death by suicide in the case of a personal injury solicitor who killed himself after mounting problems with his personal finances and an investigation by the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) into his professional accounts left him under extreme psychological pressure.

A female SRA investigator found the personal injury solicitor's body in the accident compensation firm's kitchen after he had used a plastic bag and a cylinder of helium to kill himself. She immediately contacted emergency services while two men attempted to resuscitate the solicitor. Two paramedics arrived soon after and pronounced the 41-year-old dead at the scene.

It is understood that the personal injury solicitor left suicide notes for his wife and son.
