Plummeting cow causes drama

A couple from the United States narrowly avoided having to make a rather bizarre agricultural compensation claim after a cow tumbled from a cliff and crushed their car.

The wacky incident happened close to Washington as the pair were visiting from Michigan as part of their wedding anniversary celebrations. They were driving through the countryside when from on high plummeted the 600-pound beast, landing on their bonnet, narrowly missing killing them both.

They were taken to hospital by paramedics but were later released without any personal injuries. The cow, on the other hand, wasn't so lucky and had to be put down by a vet.

Why the cow fell 200 feet from the edge of a cliff is currently being investigated and police are said to be discussing the issue with a local farmer.

It is not known if the couple are planning to make a compensation claim against the cow's owner, thought to be the farmer currently speaking to police officers.
