Ireland to see more superbug claims
One of the clinical negligence solicitors responsible for representing the man who secured the first MRSA-related compensation payout in Ireland's history says that there more similar claims on the way.
The clinical negligence solicitor took the compensation claim on after the claimant, who wishes to remain anonymous, became infected with the superbug after having surgery at a Dublin hospital.
In this case, the clinical negligence solicitor and his team successfully argued that since the affected man's pre-surgery swab returned negative for MRSA, he must have acquired the infection sometime during or after the surgery.
Compensation for the medical negligence claim was eventually paid in an out-of-court settlement.
