Eight school children were hurt after being struck by a car
A car accident has left eight injured after a car crashed into a group of school children in Suffolk.
The nine-year-olds were taking part in a walk round the local area when the Nissan car struck the group shortly before 1400 BST.
Two of the victims were airlifted to hospital directly from the crash scene and paramedics said they were in a "critical condition" at the scene.
The Headmaster of the school said: "You could not think of anything worse than finding children like that. It's not a day I want to repeat.
"When I got there, there was mayhem. It looked awful."
A 40-year-old woman has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.
A spokesperson for the paramedics at the scene commented: "Every single one of our crews who were at the scene had their hands full from the minute they got there to the minute they left."
It is too soon to know if any of the parents of the victims will be making claims for car accident compensation.
