Fake injury claims push insurance costs up by millions

A campaign has been launched to reduce the amount of false personal injury claims which have caused the price of insurance to go up by millions.

The initiative is aiming to re-educate the public and discourage illegitimate claims by using YouTube clips to showcase what constitutes a justifiable claim.

The clips reveal previous fake compensation claim cases, such as when a car accident claimant is revealed to not be in the vehicle at the time of the crash while another claimant is shown to be friends with the driver he hit the previous week. There is also a clip of a man who had made 13 separate claims for compensation.

The initiative comes after a group of friends from London were jailed in 2011 after making £3million worth of false personal injury claims. It was reported that the gang would purposefully cause accidents and damage vehicles with baseball bats in order to seek more compensation.
