Teenager impaled in head by 4ft metal pole
An Indian teenager was lucky to survive a bus accident after a 4ft metal pole became impaled in his head.
The youngster was quietly sitting in his seat when the vehicle lost control and became involved in a road accident in the state of Andrha Pradesh. The bus careered into safety barriers and one tore off and flew through an open window, hitting the student in the forehead.
Shockingly, it punctured his skull and exited at the back of his head, missing killing him instantly by mere millimetres.
Emergency services rushed to the scene of the road traffic accident but the teenager's ordeal was far from over. In order for rescuers to cut him free from the wreckage of the bus, he had to slide the safety barrier through his head and then walk along the length of the vehicle with it still poking out.
As if that wasn't enough, he then had to endure an hour-long journey to hospital along bumpy roads in an old rickshaw. Surgeons then removed the piece of metal from his skull and he is now reported to be recovering well.
Speaking to journalists about his terrifying experience, the teenager said: "It struck my head and embedded me into the seat. I was stuck there crying 'Help me' as loud as I could."
It is not known if the youngster has yet consulted personal injury solicitors to help him make a bus accident compensation claim.
