German politician may have to pay compensation for skiing accident
The family of a woman who was killed in a skiing accident in which she collided with a prominent German politician has said that a personal injury claim will be made over the incident.
The 41-year-old suffered fatal injuries in the collision with the politician at an Austrian ski resort and died on her way to hospital.
The accident compensation lawyer representing the family's personal injury claim commented, "The premier should have skied in a way so as not to endanger anyone else. Evidently that was not the case."
In addition to the personal injury claim, it is also possible that the premier will face a criminal prosecution, potentially affecting his ability to participate in the state elections due this year. Walter Ploebst, an Austrian public prosecutor, commented that such prosecutions are mandatory in cases where a skier might be considered liable for skiing accident injuries.
