Jobcentre employee wins trip and slip payout

A Jobcentre Plus employee has been awarded an undisclosed amount for an accident at work compensation claim following personal injuries he incurred after tripping over some cables in his office.

Prompted by photographic evidence of the unsafe cables, the man's employers admitted liability to the UK personal injury solicitors who were representing him.

The exact amount won in the accident at work compensation claim was determined by the extent of the man's personal injuries. He fell onto the corner of a desk, and suffered fractured ribs, neck injuries, shoulder injuries and damage to his arm.

A spokesperson for the man's union, the PCS www.pcs.org.uk, said, "Health and safety these days is often ridiculed as going too far - and trip and slip incidents as being more laughable than serious.

"But this case proves that they can result in serious injuries. It also shows employers need to pay attention to all aspects of health and safety - and highlights the valuable support that unions offer to their members"

Just last year, a council worker was awarded £30,000 when she made an accident at work compensation claim after she broke her arm falling down a staircase that was in breach of building regulations.
