Injury claim causes ill-feeling
A man from New Hampshire in the US has defended a court's decision to award him $66,200 (US) personal injury compensation for injuries he suffered in an accident at work. This follows criticism of the man by his former employers who claimed that he was just a perpetrator of the 'compensation claim culture'.
Yet he publicly defended himself saying it was 100% compensation gained purely for his personal injuries.
He told local media, "This is 100% compensation. There is no aspect of this that is an easy payout. I'd do anything to have the health I had before the work accident."
The personal injury compensation was for back and arm injuries that he suffered in a car accident while travelling as a passenger in a work vehicle, which a colleague of his was driving.
In a row that seems to just keep escalating, the 33-year-old's no win no fee solicitor later told press, "My client has already made his position clear. The award was justified 100%, compensation exists for the very reasons the court decided to award it in this instance."
