Asbestos claim needs witnesses
The family of a former England rugby youth international who died last year from an asbestos-related illness has appealed for information about the man's possible occupational asbestos exposure so that they can proceed with a bid for mesothelioma compensation.
Although the man was 73 at the time of his death, his family say that he was fit and active up until the onset of his illness.
His widow commented, "[He] was always so fit and active – so when he suddenly became ill, we knew something wasn't right.
"It was horrific to see him so helpless and the worst part was that no one could tell us why this was happening to him."
The family hopes that colleagues of the man from his time at WG Nicholls Ltd, during the late 1950s and early 1960s, or from Barnwood Builders, from 1964 to 1980, will step forward with the evidence of exposure necessary for them to secure mesothelioma compensation.
The industrial illness solicitor handling the family's mesothelioma compensation claim said that the "family are still trying to come to terms with his death, particularly the shock of finding the illness which cut short his life was due to asbestos exposure."
