Cook contacted personal injury solicitor after burn injury
A cook who wasn't supplied with protective clothing by her employer has
won personal injury compensation after sustaining a large burn in a work
accident.
Carol Allison contacted a personal injury solicitor after burning herself in the
kitchens of Roth Valley Golf Centre near Rotherham after trying to remove a
burger from a fryer. She suffered a serious personal injury from the work accident and was left with a burn to her right forearm measuring five inches long and three
inches wide.
The 46-year-old from Sheffield believes the accident at work, which happened
last August, could have been prevented if she had been given the correct
protective clothing to wear in the kitchens.
She said, "If I had been provided with long armed gloves then the fat from the
basket would not have splashed me. Instead, I have had to endure a very painful
injury that has left me with scarring to my forearm."
Her personal injury solicitor, Laura Scotford said, "The injuries sustained by Ms
Allison came as a direct result of her employer failing to provide suitable
protective equipment and failing to ensure that all work equipment used by
employees was suitable for the job in hand."
Carol Allison was awarded £1,751 in personal injury compensation following an
out of court settlement.
