OAP awaits compensation pay-out
A Birmingham pensioner who was seriously injured in a road accident is expected to receive £140,000 in compensation today.
Arthur McFarquhar was thrown from his bicycle when a youth opened a car door in his path as he cycled along Warstock Road in Yardley.
The 84-year-old suffered serious head injuries and a broken hip in the accident, which happened on October 7, 2002.
While he is now able to walk, Mr McFarquhar still suffers from poor concentration and memory, and his personality changed after the collision, leaving him confused and grumpy, his solicitor Sarah Mullen said.
