Personal injury news - Man could consider making whiplash compensation claim
An elderly man could possibly make a whiplash compensation claim after tripping on uneven paving at roadworks in Manchester.
Roland Giles, 70, was knocked unconscious as he fell over a kerbstone while crossing Manchester Road, in Bolton town centre, on 7th September.
Mr Giles sustained a neck injury in the fall and is calling for Bolton Council to put up safety barriers to stop other pedestrians being hurt.
He said, "There were barriers surrounding the roadworks until recently. I don't know what has happened to them but they should be put back."
Mr Giles was helped by passer-by who called for an ambulance.
"There was someone with me. She put a gauze on my eye then I went to hospital. I don't know who she was. I would like to thank the woman if I can."
A spokesperson for Bolton Council has said they will be investigating the incident.
Mr Giles may consider making a claim for whiplash compensation for the fall on Manchester Road, which is currently undergoing a £2.7 million road development scheme.
