Personal injury news - Boy's family contact personal injury solicitors
The mother of a boy who choked on a piece of metal in a chicken nugget is considering making a personal injury claim.
Karen Cornthwaite is planning to speak with personal injury solicitors after her son allegedly choked on the piece of chicken at Allens Fried Chicken, in Bolton, on 8th September.
Thomas Cornthwaite was eating a piece of chicken when he started to cough violently. After several minutes of his parents hitting him on his back, he coughed up a piece of metal.
The nine-year-old said, "I was just eating my dinner when I swallowed something that I felt get stuck in my throat. I had a drink but I couldn't stop choking. Then I felt like I couldn't breathe.
"I was really frightened when I saw the piece of metal land on my plate. My throat is all scratched and still hurts."
Karen claims that when she told the assistant at the counter, he replied, "I just cook it."
Thomas was taken to the Accident and Emergency department at the Royal Bolton Hospital and was told the metal had cut into his throat.
The family have decided to make a compensation claim for the accident and will be contacting personal injury solicitors.
Owner of Allens Fried Chicken, Idrees Mohammad, said, "We get the nuggets from the manufacturer and unfortunately a situation like this is out of our control because the nuggets have already been prepared."
