Workman escapes personal injury in accident at work

An accident at work involving a digger smashing into a disused building could have ended in disaster.

One workman was standing just beneath the one-story building on Emlyn Walk, off Commercial Street, Newport when it was hit by a mechanical digger on Monday evening.

He did not sustain any personal injuries but both the workman and the digger driver were both badly shaken.

Fortunately, the surrounding shops were closed for business otherwise this work accident could have caused harm to many others.
