Personal injury news- Factory workers want compensation for asbestosis
Ex-workers of a North Wales car parts factory are set to make an asbestosis compensation claim after being diagnosed with the asbestos-related illness.
Between 1962 and 1997, workers at the brake company Ferodo, near Caernarfon, used asbestos when making brake and clutch linings.
Alan Davies, of Llanrug, Caernarfon, used to work for Feredo and was diagnosed with asbestosis in 1997. He claims that major companies knew there were dangers involved with working with asbestos before it became public 1969.
He said, "Big companies kept it secret from the workers and the public.
"I worked in a store room. I used to distribute asbestos, measure it up and cut it before it would be rolled and baked."
It is believed that some sufferers and their families could receive between £50,000 and £100,000 for their asbestosis compensation claim if their industrial illness is linked to the company.
