Teen injured in car accident awaits judge’s decision

A Lancashire teenager who suffered devastating head injuries in a car accident is waiting to discover if his personal injury claim for £3 million has been successful.

Martin Redhead was knocked down by a car in the town of Rishton in 1996 and the head injuries sustained have led to a variety of mental problems. Now 18, he suffers from impulsive behaviour, has difficulty writing and also has problems with his balance and co-ordination.

Despite his problems, a support worker told the High Court in London that the youngster's condition is improving and that he is likely to become more independent as he gets older.

The teenager is suing the driver of the car that knocked him down, and the motor insurance company involved in the compensation claim have admitted 97% liability for the car accident.

After hearing both sides put their cases, Mr Justice Keith retired to ponder his decision and will reveal his verdict in the near future.
