Spinal cord injury expert falls from grace

A scientist who was considered to be one of the world's leaders in his field has apologised after it was discovered that he had faked much of his research.

Hwang Woo-suk was a renowned expert in the subject of spinal cord injury and many thought that he was the one who would finally make a significant breakthrough for those who were suffering from the terrible condition.

But it seems that Hwang’s reputation is based on lies. He has admitted manipulating data and faking results in recent papers, thus bringing upon himself the wrath of the medical community and sufferers of spinal cord injury worldwide.

The disgraced South Korean addressed a press conference and said, “I take full responsibility for the papers and offer you my apology.

"My life will be spent undoing my wrongdoing. I can’t ever repay the debt fully until I die. We’ve gone crazy, crazy about work and I’ve been blinded."

There is no doubt that Mr Hwang is a very talented man and he was actually responsible for creating the world's first cloned dog. But the fact that his recent work has been faked will be a blow to the many motorcycle accident and car crash victims who are currently crippled thanks to spinal cord injury.
