Personal injury news

Police puzzled as woman dies in tragic car accident

Police are investigating the cause of a bizarre car accident deep in a Suffolk forest that left a young woman dead and four others with personal injuries.

The emergency services were called after reports of a 4x4 overturning on a fire track in Rendlesham Forest. They arrived to discover 28-year-old Kelly Baker suffering from serious injuries and she was pronounced dead on arrival at hospital.

The track is not open to public vehicles and is regularly used by dog walkers. Police have begun an enquiry to establish what the group were doing in the forest and how the Daihatsu Sportstrak overturned.

Hearing news of Miss Baker's death in the vehicle accident, her neighbour commented, "What a dreadful shock. She was a lovely girl. She would never hurt a fly.

"She was doing up her house with her boyfriend. She was a gorgeous girl."

The four passengers travelling with Miss Baker are still in hospital and are being treated for back injuries. Doctors have revealed that their lives are not in danger, but two of them are thought to be in a serious condition.

Discussing the car accident, a spokesman from Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service said, "When we arrived there was a vehicle on its roof and four casualties had been removed from the vehicle. We assisted the ambulance and police in stabilising the casualties."
