Personal injury news

Personal injury solicitor appears in the dock

A personal injury solicitor has appeared in court accused of taking more than £900,000 from a paralysed client's car accident claim compensation.

57-year-old Thomas McGoldrick, a married father-of-two from Mobberley in Cheshire, allegedly took the money between June 2002 and December 2004. The identity of his supposed victim has not been revealed, but it is known that he suffered serious personal injuries in a road accident, rendering him wheelchair-bound for the rest of his life.

Appearing at Trafford Magistrates' Court, McGoldrick only spoke during the 20-minute hearing to confirm his name, address and date of birth and also to enter a not guilty plea to 41 charges of false accounting, three charges of money laundering and a single charge of forgery.

Mr McGoldrick is currently suspended from practice by the Law Society as a result of the ongoing court case, and it has been confirmed that his offices in Altrincham and Croydon have ceased operating.

Released on conditional bail to reappear at Trafford Magistrates' Court for a committal hearing on July 31st, the personal injury solicitor announced that he intends to rigorously deny all the allegations and will fight to clear his name.
