Bus crash passengers could sue for whiplash compensation
Passengers onboard a bus that crashed and killed the driver may consider
making a whiplash compensation claim for their injuries.
Emergency services were called to a scene of a vehicle accident on the A56, near
Edenfield, in Rossendale, after a bus collided with a wagon.
Fire crews had to cut the driver free from the X40 bus which was taking
passengers from Manchester to Great Harwood.
The 64-year-old man has suffered a chest and leg injury in the motor accident and
was airlifted to Preston Royal Infirmary where he later died from his serious
personal injuries.
Passengers involved in the crash were taken to the Royal Blackburn Hospital
suffering from minor cuts and whiplash.
The road accident caused major tailbacks on the northbound carriageway of the
M66 while police cleared debris from the scene of the accident.
A spokesperson for Lancashire Ambulance service, said, "We kept some staff on
the scene because of the hot weather conditions. People sat in their cars for such
a long time can prove to be a hazard."
In the future, people injured in the crash may consider filing a passenger injury
claim in the hope of being awarded whiplash compensation.
