Warden criticised for giving parking ticket after car accident
A parking warden has been heavily criticised for giving a parking fine to a car that
had been involved in a car accident just hours before.
Soon after the VW Golf was involved in the road accident, a parking warden gave
the damaged vehicle a £100 fixed penalty fine when it was said to be clearly
undrivable. Fortunately, nobody is believed to have suffered any serious personal
injuries in the car crash, which happened in Barkingside in Essex.
Passer-by, James Pennant, said, "It was obviously the scene of a vehicle accident.
Someone could have been killed o badly injured but that didn't stop him writing out
a ticket. I told the warden what he was doing was atrocious but he just told me to
go away."
The same traffic warden also allegedly gave the car a second ticket the following
day.
A spokesman for the parking firm APCO apologised for the parking fines being
given after the vehicle had clearly been involved in a car accident and said the
tickets would be cancelled.
