Woman raises money after husband recovers from brain injury
A woman whose husband suffered a brain injury seven years ago is helping to raise £6,000 for the charity that helped him return back to work.
Garry Miller from East Kilbride was just 30 when he suffered brain damage and was taken to Hairmyres Hospital after the blood vessels in his brain burst.
Seven years on and after extensive physiotherapy and speech therapy, Garry was able to return to work with the help of the charity Momentum and now works as a business centre manager of PC World in East Kilbride.
His wife, Suzanne has already raised £1,500 for Momentum with a sponsored skydive and now wants to raise £6,000 when she takes part in a sponsored cycle ride with her friend in Cuba.
She said, "Momentum helped Gary so much, so I'm glad to be able to do something in return."
After recovering from his brain injury, Garry said, "Being able to work means so much for me and if it hadn't been for them I wouldn't have had the confidence to go back to work."
Momentum works throughout Scotland helping to empower disabled people to achieve their goals in life. They are best known for their rehabilitation work with people with serious personal injuries, especially those who have suffered a brain or spinal injury.
