Man rushed to hospital after accident at work

A man has been killed and another seriously injured in an accident at work in Blackpool yesterday.

The two men were working on an outside block of flats on The Promenade, in St Anns, when a man believed to be in his 40s was reportedly flung from a 30ft high cherry picker.

The man suffered serious personal injuries and was pronounced dead at Blackpool Victoria Hospital. His colleague, thought to be in his 20s, suffered a head injury and suspected broken arm and leg.

It is not yet known what caused the accident at work and police investigators were called to the scene.
