Personal injury news
British motorists become more safety conscious
There has been a decline in casualties as the result of
car accidents, claim whatcar.com.
Car buying resource whatcar.com conducted a poll and discovered that 63% of their website visitors have not been involved in a
road accident in the past five years.
They also found that only 5% had been involved in an accident where casualties had occurred and a pleasing one third had been involved in a
car accident over the past five years where no
personal injuries were sustained.
Of course safety devices such as seatbelts and airbags make all the difference if you are involved in a
car accident and it seems that British motorists do indeed have safety at the forefront of their minds.
Whatcar have determined that 92% of people that participated in their poll always wear their seatbelts when either driving or travelling as passengers. But, 4% do not wear their seatbelts if going on a short journey, 2% only wear their seatbelts some of the time because they drive carefully and worryingly 2% refuse to wear their seatbelt because they believe that it infringes their rights.
These results show some hope of fatal
car accidents and those resulting in serious
personal injuries declining in the UK. Insurance companies will also rejoice as the amount of
car accident claims may be set to fall.
