Company pays fine for employee's accident at work

A company who failed to control the risks of vehicle movements on site have been fined after an employee was injured in an accident at work.

Whites Transport Ltd were fined £15,000 and paid costs of £2,500 after pleading guilty to breaching health and safety regulations at Daventry Magistrates' Court.

Heath and safety officers carried out an investigation following a work accident where a member of staff suffered severe bruising.

The man had been working on a trailer from a load handling truck, when the trailer was driven away, causing him to fall to the ground.

Kevin Perry, Health and Housing Portfolio Holder of Daventry District Council, said, "Transport related accidents are a major cause of injury and I urge other employers to examine their systems and take advice from our officers before another employee is injured."

The man involved in the accident at work chose not contact personal injury solicitors following the incident and is believed to have full recovery from his work place injury.
