Coastguard helicopter called to scene of car accident
A coastguard helicopter was called to the scene of a car accident in the Scottish Highlands to airlift casualties from the site of the crash.
The Stornoway coastguard helicopter responded to an emergency call asking to airlift passengers suffering serious personal injuries in a road accident in Wester Ross on Monday.
The helicopter landed in a lay-by close to the scene of the car crash on the A832 and airlifted a total of six people to Inverness Airport where ambulances were waiting to take them to Raigmore Hospital for treatment.
Coastguard watch manager, Martin Collins, said, "This was a well co-ordinated operation involving all four emergency services. The helicopter reported that of the six people they airlifted, two were on stretches and the other four were walking wounded."
The casualties are being fully assessed at Raigmore Hospital for the injuries sustained in the car accident.
