Dream holiday ends in personal injury compensation claim
An Eastbourne couple are preparing to make a personal injury compensation claim after their dream holiday to the Caribbean was wrecked by a stomach bug.
Jamie Tones and Vanessa Marton forked out £2,000 for the trip of a lifetime to the Dominican Republic but were among over a hundred British tourists who fell ill while staying at the Hotel Riu Bachata.
Within only a few days of arriving at the luxury resort, the couple claim they had fallen sick and, now two weeks after coming home, they have still not recovered sufficiently to return to work.
Ms Marton told reporters, "There were nurses running around everywhere - they were going from room to room with their medical kits."
They now plan to make a bid for personal injury compensation and are planning to sue their tour operators, Thomson Holidays.
Hearing of the holiday claim, a Thomson spokesperson said, "As this is now with our legal department we are unable to comment any further."
