Car accident leaves local businessman with broken back

A businessman suffered a severe back injury in a car accident involving a lorry on the A429 Malmesbury to Chippenham road on 13th June.

Mr Fry was on his way to collect his wife from her parent's house when the road accident occurred. As he pulled up outside the house a lorry ploughed into the back of his car.

He was airlifted to Great Western Hospital in Swindon where he was diagnosed with a broken back and spinal cord injury consisting of three crushed vertebrae and slipped discs.

Mrs Fry who runs gardening service, A and D Fry, with her husband is very distressed about the accident but grateful that he is still alive.

She commented: 'If he had been driving his work van and not the SRV, which is very sturdy, he would have been killed. I'm terribly upset and so are the children.'

It is thought that Mr Fry will have to take up to three months off work as a result of the personal injuries he suffered from the car accident.
