Beatle wife to undergo surgery
Heather Mills McCartney, the one-legged wife of ex-Beatle Paul McCartney, is to undergo surgery to fix
complications resulting from a 1994 motorcycle accident.
The former model had to have her left leg amputated after she suffered severe personal injuries when she was hit by a police motorbike in West
London. The motorcycle accident also shattered
her pelvis, which surgeons reconstructed with the help of a metal plate.
It is believed that the 37-year-old has been in constant pain since giving birth to daughter Beatrice in 2003.
The final stages of pregnancy were said to have pushed the plate out of position, leaving the animal rights
campaigner, and self-confessed one-time jewellery thief, continually uncomfortable.
According to reports, Mills McCartney is booking into a top London hospital to have a titanium replacement plate
fitted, hoping it is the last repercussion from her motorcycle
accident 12 years ago.
A spokesman has confirmed the surgery, saying, “She is booked into hospital to have some remedial work
because the baby put pressure on her pelvis when she was pregnant and it has been causing her discomfort ever
since.”
