Safety at work initiative to prevent accident at work
The safety of young employees most likely to have an accident at work will be highlighted at a National WiseUp2Work Day scheduled to take place later this year.
The initiative, which has been developed by the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH), highlights the issue of safety for under 21s who may be just starting work, an apprenticeship or work experience. According to statistics, an average of 10 young people are killed and 2,500 receive serious personal injuries in work accidents every year.
WiseUp2Work is targeting young people who, without the correct training, could possibly have an accident in the workplace and aims to make employers more aware of risks faced in the working environment.
The National WiseUp2Work Day will be held on Wednesday 30th August 2006.
